A practical checklist
- Record the work completed before stopping with its actual date.
- Describe the stopping point using a landmark recognizable from the field.
- Add a later activity when work resumes, referencing the previous stopping point.
May 4 planting: “Stopped at the drainage crossing after equipment fault; northeast section remains.” May 6 planting: “Resumed east of drainage crossing and completed northeast section.” The sequence does not imply full coverage on May 4.
What to avoid
Avoid a note that only says “breakdown.” Without the stopping location, it cannot tell a returning crew which ground is unfinished.
