A practical checklist

  1. Read all planting entries for each season, not only the first date.
  2. Check whether field area or boundaries changed between the seasons.
  3. Separate the original planting from later replanting before summarizing timing.
Illustrative recordA worked example

Last season North Hill was planted May 2–3 with no recorded replant. This season it was planted May 6, with a low strip replanted May 25. A comparison preserves that distinction instead of reporting only May 6.

What to avoid

Planting history can suggest questions to investigate; it does not establish why a later harvest differed. Other conditions may have changed too.
