A practical checklist

  1. Create separate activities for work completed on different dates.
  2. Describe the planted section whenever the field was not finished in one pass.
  3. Keep the crop name consistent so the dated entries are easy to compare.
Illustrative recordA worked example

Planting · Hill Field · May 8: “South section completed to lane.” May 10: “North section completed; field now finished.” The record shows both planting dates instead of assigning the whole field to May 8.

What to avoid

Do not use the completion date for every earlier section. That changes the historical timing rather than simplifying it.
