A practical checklist

  1. Record the completed activity with the date and worked section.
  2. Describe the remaining area relative to a stable landmark.
  3. Communicate urgent handoff details directly and use the journal to preserve the same factual context.
Illustrative recordA worked example

Planting notes: “Completed west side to center lane; east side remains. Stopped at 16:00.” The next operator’s activity describes the east-side continuation rather than implying another pass over the whole field.

What to avoid

Saving a note does not guarantee the next operator has read it, especially if either device is offline. Confirm time-sensitive handoffs through the crew’s normal channel.
