A practical checklist

  1. Create an equipment record with the implement’s recognizable name.
  2. Add model, serial, and purchase details where they are known.
  3. Place implement repairs under that implement and name any connected tractor only as context.
Illustrative recordA worked example

A bearing repair on Drill D1 is recorded under Drill D1, with notes saying it was detached from Tractor T2 for service. Tractor T2’s maintenance history does not inherit a repair it did not receive.

What to avoid

Do not create a new implement record every time it changes tractors. The same implement should retain its own continuous history.
